Disrupting Class-Clayton Christensen

A great book by Prof.Christensen about the applications of innovation theory to the world of education. The book is fascinating and dwells on a broad range of issues of relevance to education, from student-oriented learning, the role of ICT in education and the implications of ICT adoption for education policy, among others. This book has been a real eye opener and has introduced me to a whole new world of research in innovation. As I grapple with the issues raised in this book, I am excited by the multiple ideas that emerge as a result of these issues. Their relevance to education cannot be overemphasized.

History has a strange way of repeating itself. Life comes full circle in less than a year as I face the same situation all over again. An undesirable deja vu.
At the same time, there are new challenges to deal with-and one can only pray that these things don't happen to anyone. Ever.

Looking forward to the festive season as a welcome distraction.

Vikram Sarabhai: A Life

This riveting book captures in a slim volume an entire era that was Dr.Vikram Sarabhai's life. From his professional achievements to his personal life, the author paints an intimate picture of Dr.Sarabhai the scientist and the human being, against the backdrop of the history of Ahmedabad city and newly independent India. The book is a must-read for everyone, and will be appreciated especially by those who know Ahmedabad and life in the city very well.
What's fascinating to me is Dr.Sarabhai's farsightedness with respect to problems that are of relevance even today. As I carry out my research in technology-enabled education, the vision of Dr.VS to use technology to make education available to all, several decades ago, is remarkable.
A good read.
