The Politics of Love

Love.

One word that makes the world go round. One word that launched a thousand ships ages ago, and one that's launched an interesting campaign today (ref: http://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/). While the fuss about Valentine's day grows louder each year, my belief in the irrelevance of this whole controversy only grows stronger. Its high time the defenders of 'Indian Culture' were made aware of our history with the four lettered word that started it all. From our scriptures to our art, history, society, festivals, rituals..everywhere we see a celebration of love in all its forms, colors and hues. Just because the so-called 'western society' has marked a day for it, doesn't make it evil. When will we see the light? When will we realize that the world is one? Its the same emotion! How does it matter if its expression is different?!

Mr.Politician..wake up..focus on something more important. Start with feeding the hungry, providing employment to the unemployed, ensure higher enrollment in schools..focus on those issues which will build our nation. That is why we elected you in the first place!

And now, if you will allow me, I have plans to make for tomorrow!

Justice is served..

Today's breaking news on the ruling on Nithari can be found here: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20090083466

(pasting the full link since my blog page isn't loading properly)

This ruling proves that something still works in the Indian judicial system, even if it means succumbing to public pressure. I hope this ruling sends out a strong message to everyone that protecting the rights of our women and children is not just important, but is a moral obligation for all of us.

Its not enough to just make a speech about the rights of the most vulnerable sections of our society, but one has got to stop the Kolis and Pandhers of this world from indulging in such monstrous behavior. Hopefully this ruling is a step in that direction.

Coffee conversation..

My favorite fragrance in the world is the smell of fresh coffee. Over lunch today, I was raving to A about how I couldn't possibly live without coffee..and soon I wondered aloud why we didn't have a coffee perfume. Imagine a world of coffee..where people weren't people alone, but had their own unique coffee avatars..a conversation in such a world would go something like this..

She seems like filter coffee, but she's actually more like instant coffee..!!

If a guy were really boring, he'd be called 'de-caf'

Teenage coffee lingo would have 'cool' phrases like, 'oh (s)he's so caf!'

And one definitely wouldn't use the term 'black coffee' in this world..it would be racist you see! ;)

Okay I'm done now..onto my next round of coffee!

Today's Orkut Fortune

..was a profound thought..had to post it on my blog:

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life

Stunned by the meaning that this line conveys..its so true!
