School kids may be too young to vote, but they can influence voters. So, a school in Pune has decided to give two additional marks to students who ensure their parents vote.
"We will surely convince our parents and make sure that they vote," one of the students said.
The parents also seem to be liking the idea.
"Generally many people prefer to take off and rest on election day. But this is a good initiative and we hope for positive response from all parents," a parent said.
This is how the marks for votes works:
According to the principal Shivraj Pimpurde, "The grace marks will be added to the final score in the internal exam of the students in Civics subject who submit a written note from their parents affirming that they had exercised their franchise."
Pimpurde has contacted 25 other schools across Maharashtra urging them to use this tactic so that the parents vote even if it is just to make sure their children get extra marks.
