funny thought: what if someone called the 'phone a friend' lifeline and when Amitabh Bachchan says, 'namaskar main Amitabh Bachchan bol raha hoon, KBC se..aapke mitr mere saamne baithe hain aur aapki madad chahte hain..' and the friend replies..'oh no..mujhe laga aapne jackpot question ke liye mujhe phone kiya!'..and hangs up? some friend huh? :D

Allowing myself a moment's nostalgia
The year was 2003 when i had just joined for my M.S. at IITM..those were the days of dot matrix printers in the old HSS lab. I was just discovering emerald insight and ebsco and most stuff was 'subscription' only. Fast forward to 2011 and you have websites like nap.edu where all their publications are for free. The knowledge age is here to stay!

I know a lot of friends who have deleted their social networking accounts in recent times since its a huge distraction. Well, that's one way to deal with the problem. I think another good way is to develop 'other distractions' so that logging into facebook doesn't seem all that important. That way you can keep your FB account alive (creating a new one at a later date is a tedious process, and lets face it, FB does have its benefits), and revive other interests. Its also a good lesson in developing some self-control, knowing you have your account active, but getting involved in other activities that could possibly be of interest as well. So go rekindle your interest in reading, writing or take time out to finish that long pending project! FB will be there when you return! ;)

Little voices speak
Insight at 2am: "when you worry about something, remember that there are always, always bigger, better things to worry about". In other words, rise above the situation and focus your energies where they may be better deserved. Why focus on what cannot be changed? Choose instead to focus on things that can be managed and changed, or made better.
Its good to listen to the inner voice, it helps you sleep well.. :)
