I discovered this Punjabi folk song quite by chance in an Indian Raga medley of folk songs:

Then because one of the tracks sounded familiar I tracked it down to its different versions

But this is a distant second to the original by Surinder Kaur ji 

A charming song about love. I don't get its meaning entirely. Still looking for a good translation.

Of course Bollywood came along and diluted it in London Thumakda.
