Using your superpowers judiciously

There are several stories in Indian and other mythological sources which talk of how boons or special powers are granted to someone in a story and they then go on to use it in key places in the story which many times alters the course of the story or the life of the character themselves.

One example come to mind, from the Mahabharata, Abhimanyu hearing the way to get into the chakyavyuh while he's still in the womb as his uncle Krishna narrates this story to Subhadra. However Subhadra falls asleep midway through the story and so later on warrior Abhimanyu fighting the Mahabharata war only knows how to get into the chakravyuh but not get out of it successfully.

Today, parents and teachers need to teach not only about skills like language, numerical concepts, abstract thought, etc but also teach students when and how to use them appropriately for themselves and for the benefit of their family, community, etc. Only then can we claim to have made any progress at all.
