Reflections etc

The mind craves experiences that literally fire all neurons, the ideas, words and action just align and happen. Effortlessly.

For me this is  conversations with a few people about books, music, ideas, and everything under the sun.

It's joy, inspiration, respect and ultimately love. A sacred space between two people that's of unconditional acceptance and yes, love.

We meet so many people in life but so few influence us this way. Their thoughtfulness, consideration and words stay with us long after the conversations have happened. They influence us in profound ways and we carry them in our minds although we might rarely see them.

I wish we had more such experiences where everyone felt understood and loved and accepted...and safe.

Till such a time this happens perhaps we ourselves need to be more empathetic to those around us. Having experienced such love and joy wouldn't it be great to share it with more people? 😊

Sea Shanties

Currently the hottest thing on TikTok are apparently sea shanties. So random and yet so fun: https://youtu.be/auI9Cx8SGX4

The street where we lived.

Where visiting friends would often hang out by the gate for an hour or more after the house visit was done,

Where we would play badminton using the gate as a net,

Where I once got knocked down by a scooter rider and broke my tooth at age 6-7,

Which would get flooded during heavy rains,

Which would go on to  be the core of my being to this day.

Solitude

A conversation that sparkles
With  warmth despite the distance
With ideas despite the silence
With comfort in solitude
Is one that I yearn for

Search

The sounds of silence
Are filled with birds chirping
With my thoughts running to you
Wondering how you are
Where you are
In the grand design of this cosmos

Silence

The sounds of silence
Are because we are left alone by ourselves
And as we look within there's so much we see that there's not much to say but a lot to think about
Thinking and speaking often are at odds with each other.
We think when we are still and quiet
And then when we talk, it all comes together.

Sunday

Silent thoughts

Do you hear that?
It's the household sleeping
The birds chirping
Quiet within and without

Soon enough life will awaken
And I'll try to find my quiet place once more

Being quiet

Being quiet

Feet up
Coffee
A book to read
But a mind that wants to write instead
The buzz won't stop till it's  written down
Needs a step back from the world and it's chaos
Delivered in the most absurd way

At home

On being home

We look for ourselves in other people
For a better version of oneself
We find a quality here a trait there
And sometimes we meet them and then we meet our Self
Then we are home.

No title for #love

Like a slow simmering ember,
You're always in my thoughts,
When the day's rush is over and I have one precious minute,
There you are, always around, ever smiling.

#love

Latthe di Chadar

I discovered this Punjabi folk song quite by chance in an Indian Raga medley of folk songs:

Then because one of the tracks sounded familiar I tracked it down to its different versions

The classic version: https://youtu.be/tFMxhu-n0sA

The recent fusion versions:

And

https://youtu.be/r9E4JJpEygc (which I like the best of all fusions).

But this is a distant second to the original by Surinder Kaur ji

A charming song about love. I don't get its meaning entirely. Still looking for a good translation.

Of course Bollywood came along and diluted it in London Thumakda.
