Building new habits is like creating sandcastles on the beachside of life. Sometimes the ocean tide of life events washes away the sandcastles we have built but like a child playing by the ocean we build the sandcastles over and over again. 

Why? Because the sand exists to be moulded into a new beautiful structure and the ocean fills us with awe and joy for just being alive. ⛱️🏝️❤️

Being Human

Aren't we all just human?

Living with our titles, our business suits, our name plates and cars?

And houses and gardens and other bells and whistles?

Just because we are on the opposite sides of a desk 

Makes us no bigger or smaller than each other

All unique 

All the same 

All uniquely human.

Dream and reality 

In the Dream, anything and everything is possible. 

The Dream provides endless fuel to live in a Reality that's not always optimal. 

In the Dream there's an eternity, no judgment, no inconvenience of constraints of time, effort, norms etc

The Dream connects one heart with another 

One mind with another 

In a sweet albeit aching bond that the world won't understand 

Heck, even Reality doesn't get it. 

The Dream just happened.

Because it reflects Wisdom that is eternal, a purer form of exoerience uncluttered by the noise we see today. 

Yes they had problems back then too. 

A country struggling to get free 

A struggling economy 

Abject poverty and famine 

Violence and more 

As individuals people faced heartbreak, displacement and more. 

Look at Geeta Dutt, or Shamshad Begum or anyone in the pre Mangeshkar Bhosle era. Wonderful singers who slowly systematically got replaced by others who came after them. There are reports of how personal tragedy and professional setbacks slowly eroded Geeta Dutt's life and career.

As these legends dealt with great personal demons yet gave us eternal gems they are to be revered. 

Among the billions of people in this world the legendary singers of yore are bringing us in some corner of the world, solace, joy, and a moment's peace in a chaotic world.

I never knew my larger family very well. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins existed mostly as stories told by parents. So I imagine them in black and white with a Rafi song in the background. 

The song thus connects me to this narrative in the continuous march of time. It connects me to history and I feel more a part of this world. 

 For this and more the Old has my ❤️

Revisiting

As I listened to favorite songs for the nth time I wrote....

The thing with love. 

Is that it often takes a break

It ebbs and flows

There's melody and there's silence 

The silence often making the melody sweeter when we come back to it again 

Because come back to it we will  

The silence is just a lull in which to savor the magic of the song

As the magic fades the song returns anew like a fresh track 

Like an endless routine 

Like light and shade and light again.
